Looking for FX Console in Premiere Pro?
The short answer is that it does not exist. FX Console is a Video Copilot plugin for After Effects, and there is no Premiere Pro edition of it.

What FX Console actually is.
A free workflow plugin from Video Copilot for Adobe After Effects. You press a hotkey, type the name of an effect or preset, and it is applied to your layer without going near the Effects panel. It also handles presets and can take snapshots of your work as you go.

Strip it back and the appeal is one loop:
Hotkey → search → apply → carry on
Once that becomes muscle memory, going back to hunting through a panel feels slow. That is usually what brings people to this page — not the plugin itself, but the loop.
The gap
Premiere editors have been asking for this.
Premiere Pro has an Effects panel and a search box inside it, but no global shortcut that opens a search field over the timeline and applies what you choose. Editors keep asking Adobe for one.
In November 2023 a request went up on Adobe’s idea board titled “Floating Search bar for Effects like Andrew Kramer’s FX Console”, asking for a floating bar that could apply effects from anywhere in the interface. The shortcut it suggested was CtrlSpace.
In January 2026 another one appeared, “Request: FX Console–like Effect Search & Apply in Premiere Pro”, asking to press a shortcut, type an effect name, and apply it to selected clips. Both are still open for voting.
Neither is a groundswell — a handful of editors each. But they are years apart and they describe the same missing thing, which is usually a sign that the people who want it want it badly.
In Premiere Pro
Summon, search, apply, keep editing.
HyperShift Pro is a floating command bar built for Premiere Pro. Press Ctrl + Space anywhere in Premiere — the default, changeable in Settings — and the bar appears over the timeline. Type, choose, and it hands focus straight back to your edit.
It is not a docked panel and takes no screen space when you are not using it. It indexes Premiere’s built-in effects and transitions — third-party plugin effects are not indexed, and it does not search your project’s sequences, bins or media.
What it does

The search field is the front door. Most of what saves time afterwards is the timeline work sitting behind it.
Search and apply
Premiere's built-in video effects, audio effects, video transitions and audio transitions, badged by category so you can tell them apart at a glance. Your choice is applied to every matching selected clip.
Adjustment layers
Created above the topmost selected clip, spanning the selection and fitted to the sequence frame size. A new track is inserted if one is needed.
Transitions
Placed centred on the cut with a two-second default duration, applied from the same search field as everything else.
Align and distribute
Align left, right, top, bottom, either centre or both. Distribute by tops, bottoms, left or right edges, or either set of centres — distributing needs three or more selected clips.
Spacing and position
Spacing spreads the selection apart; position moves the whole group. You see it live while dragging, and the entire drag is one undo step rather than one per frame.
Stack and offset
Bring clips to a common start and step them along the timeline by a frame offset, in several anchoring modes. Transitions on the clips being moved are recreated.

These are tools for two different applications, so this is not a contest with a winner. It is worth being clear about what each one is for.

HyperShift Pro does not do presets or snapshots. If those are the parts of FX Console you rely on, nothing here replaces them — and in After Effects, FX Console is still the tool for that job.
Worth knowing
HyperShift Pro is not the only option.

Is there an FX Console for Premiere Pro?
No. FX Console is a Video Copilot plugin built for After Effects, and there is no Premiere Pro edition of it. What does exist is a small group of Premiere Pro extensions that provide the same habit — a shortcut that opens a search field, applies what you pick, and disappears. HyperShift Pro is one of them.
Does FX Console work with Premiere Pro?
It is published as an After Effects workflow plugin, so it is not something you install into Premiere Pro. If you work in both applications, the workflow you are used to in After Effects has to come from a separate Premiere Pro extension.
What is the closest FX Console-style workflow in Premiere Pro?
A command bar summoned by a global shortcut. In HyperShift Pro that is Ctrl + Space by default, changeable in Settings — you press it anywhere in Premiere, type part of an effect or transition name, press Enter, and the bar dismisses itself.
What does HyperShift Pro do beyond effect search?
The timeline setup work that usually costs a dozen clicks: adjustment layers that span the selection, aligning and distributing clips, scrubbing spacing and position, and stacking clips with a frame offset. That is the part that goes past searching for an effect.
